Aidan Shipley


Aidan is a recent graduate of  Ryerson University's Film Studies program where he was able to pursue his passions for both directing and acting.

As an actor he's worked with some of Canada’s best filmmakers, most recently in Atom Eyogan's film, The Captive, which premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, where Aidan can be seen acting  alongside fellow Canadian, Ryan Reynolds.

During his time at Ryerson, Aidan was the recipient of the Harvey Hart Award for directing, as well as the Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award for his third and fourth year films Bridges and Dorsal . Both films have played major festivals across Canada and internationally and are featured in the National Screen Institute's archive. He also co-produced the short film, Running Season, which made its premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, won ‘Best Canadian Short’ at the 2014 Whistler Film Festival and screened at the 2015 Slamdance Film Festival.

Since graduating, he’s gone on to co-write and direct the short film Boxing, a BravoFact which made its premiere at  the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, as well as recently finishing production on his first feature, Cardinal, which was funded by the Telefilm Micro-Budget Program. 

Upcoming: Aidan can be seen co-starring alongside Alex Ozerov in the feature film Natasha. Written and directed by David Bezmozgis, it's currently playing at Carlton Cinema and Famous Players in Toronto.
